TITLES OF ARTICLES and INDEX to THE HAZEN ROAD DISPATCH

Journal of the Greensboro, (Vt.) Historical Society

1975-1991

by Patricia L. Haslam

The Hazen Road Dispatch began in January 1975 as the newsletter for the Greensboro Bicentennial Committee for the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976. Nancy Hill was committee chairman. Ultimately, the 1976 activities led to the founding of the Greensboro Historical Society in 1977, and the Hazen Road Dispatch became its official journal. Daniel Metraux was the first editor. Sally Fisher shared the editorship with him from 1981to 1987 when she became editor. Nancy Hill has remained associate editor since the beginning. Contributors through 17 years have included a wide variety of professors, historians, anthropologists, genealogists, and authors. Cover designs were contributed by Audrey Hunt, Ann Bartel, Peggy Hilker, and Ann Strieby. In 1981, The Hazen Road Dispatch won an award for excellence from the Vermont Historical Society.

Volume I (six issues) was broken down by season and are indexed as such: i.e. Jan '75 with page number. Volume 2 begins 1977 as an annual, single issue and thereafter: i.e. 2: page number. This is an every-name index which includes most place names, with the exception of the numerous entries for "Caspian Lake," "Hardwick,"and"Greensboro."
